Allegro offers dance classes for students ages 2.5 through adult. Through a variety of enjoyable and challenging classes, students grow to love and appreciate the art of dance. All students showcase their talents at an annual recital in the spring. Allegro also has four performing companies for dancers looking to participate in local performances and dance competitions. Dancers audition for placement.

CHILDREN'S CLASSES

Let's Get Movin' (Parent/2.5 - 3 year old) is a parent/child class that allows everyone to have fun with age-appropriate creative movement activities that stimulates the mind and the body of your little one.  

Budding Ballerinas (Age 3) is a delightful first step into the world of ballet! Dancers learn ballet positions and steps and grow to love dance through lots of fun movement activities.

Tiny Tappers (Age 3) is a great way to learn the rhythms of tap dance. Dancers learn basic tap steps and have lots of fun with creative movement games. Line up and tippity tap!

Pre-Ballet/Pre-Tap is a class where four year-olds grow to love music and dance with creative movement activities that focus on developing coordination, listening skills and rhythm. This class combines singing, clapping, and counting with basic dance movements to give young dancers a great introduction to the world of dance. We alternate each week between ballet or tap.

Combo 1 is an hour ballet and tap combination class for children ages 5 & 6. This is a great dance class for 6 year-olds that are new to dance.
 
Combo 2 is a 1.25 hour class for children ages 6 & 7. Dancers learn ballet, tap and jazz in this combo class. We continue with our ballet and tap training, and are introduced to the world of jazz. Dancers learn about isolations, jazz splits, turns and leaps!

Acro (Levels 1 – 3) Acro 1 will be an intro to basic gymnastics skills and elements (i.e. forward rolls,intro to handstands, basics of a cartwheel, as well as gymnastics games set to music). Dancers will also work on flexibility and strength! Acro 2 & 3 will begin with the basics, and the class will progress to more challenging skills based on each student's ability!

BEGINNER THROUGH ADVANCED CLASSES

Level 2/3 – 6.  Please note that most students spend at least 2 years at each level in order to master the skills needed to move up to the next level.

Ballet is the foundation of all forms of dance. In ballet, the focus is on posture, body placement, footwork, turns, jumps, and leaps. We work on exercises at the barre, stretching, adagio, petite allegro, grande allegro and choreography in class. Admission into the Pointe program is at the discretion of the instructor and director. A student's ballet training and physical capability must be considered for pointe to be a successful and fun experience. A physician's evaluation is also required. Pointe students are required to take two ballet classes a week.

Jazz ADA teaches current dance trends set to popular music and classic jazz styles. Today, there are many faces of jazz and students grow to appreciate the traditional and the funky styles of today.

Musical Theatre allows dancers to become characters through their dancing -  we use musicals like Chicago, Fosse, Wicked, Hairspray, West Side Story, Annie (and many more) to inspire our classes.

Lyrical dance is a wonderful way for dancers to learn to truly express themselves as artists. We tell stories of love, sadness, friendship and hope through this genre. Lyrical is a combination of the techniques learned in ballet, jazz and modern.

Tap ADA students learn the syncopated rhythms and styles of tap dancing - past and present. Tap dancing has made a BIG comeback in recent years. We are inspired by tap artists such as Savion Glover, the Rockettes, and the Tap Dogs!

Modern dance is an abstract version of jazz dance. Legends like Lester Horton, Jose Limon, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham and Alvin Ailey created movement that grew from jazz and transformed the dance world. We are inspired by these great artists in our modern dance class

Hip-Hop is most likely the most popular dance genre today, hip-hop is another dance form that grew out of jazz. It began with break dancing, turned into funk, and now we learn about pop-n-lockin'. Hip-Hop class is a great way to create your unique style and let loose and have some fun!

Stretch & Strength is for dancers and adult looking to further their flexibility, stamina and strength. This class is taught by a certified personal trainer and promises to whip you into tip-top shape!
